This workshop is for pre-professional and professional dancers and musicians interested in contemporary and experimental forms. The workshop will run from 9 – 5 daily for 6 days. For both dancers and musicians, the first class of the day, an alternative movement class, will focus on working fluidly for injury prevention and technical proficiency. In the second class, Julia Aplin will teach a contemporary dance class working with weight, precision and expressive freedom while John Gzowski coaches musicians through the accompaniment process. The last half of the day will focus on the creative process. Musicians will engage in improvisation/composition with John Gzowski. Dancers will work with Julia Aplin and Ann Tutt on improvisation, dance creation, and learning choreography. Dancers and musicians will take this work into a collaborative creative process. A public showing of the workshop process will be presented at the end of the six-day workshop.
